I am to inform you that Their Lordships
have had under consideration the request contained
in the Governor's letter dated 7th March, 1938, to
the Commodore, Hong Kong, that an Admiralty trawler
or other suitable vessel should be lent to the
Hong Kong Naval Volunteer Force for training
purposes.

While Their Lordships would have been gad
to meet the request of the Governor, if possible,
they regret that no trawler or other similar
Admiralty vessel is available for permanent loan.
They have therefore decided, in view of the
desirability of improving the capcity of members
of the Naval Volunteer Force, that as and when two
boom vessels in commission are available at Hong
Kong one of these may be made available for the
training of members of the Force at the discretion
of Commodore, Hong Kong.

The use of a vessel for training 18
